Is “I am RAM” right?
Categories: Advertising, Video

I saw this commercial, “I am RAM” last week at a guy friends house on ESPN during a hockey game and knew I wanted to write a post about it. It’s visually gorgeous, the copy is great, and I think its very well suited for the truck’s target market but the message is just a little disturbing. The line “my tank is full” is essentially saying ‘f-you’ to the Green movement.

As it becomes more and more apparent that our world needs to focus on sustainability, should American companies and marketers still be making these kind of commercials? These kind of cars? Why is it that the most “American” cars have to be the ones that are the worst for the environment?

Interesting.. In terms of a consumer mindset, it’s great… But if they *were* using the “my tank is full” as a metaphor for love of life or something, it didn’t come across…

Can’t say I agree on the visually gorgeous part. It’s a bunch of stock photos on a slide show. This ad probably cost them about twelve dollars.

  3. You think? I think the photography is just gorgeous!
